Slumber Party Decorating: Dim Lights and Sleepy Ambiance
Let’s suppose your daughter or niece is planning on having a slumber party for her birthday, and you don’t have much cash on hand to afford a professional decorator to design her bedroom in time for the party. You know that the décor is as important as the other aspects of the party, and fortunately, it’s something you can tackle yourself.
Go Shopping!
Go shopping for accent pieces in thrift shops. Drapes are easy enough to acquire, you simply need to match these with the wall color for maximum effect. If you have enough time on your hands, and an extra sleeping area for her, you can have the walls of her bedroom painted. Maybe you’ve been itching to redecorate anyway, and this is your chance. A simple and inexpensive plan is just what you need.
These ideas applyto any room in your house, but because you want the slumber party to be as delightful as your daughter or niece envisioned it, let’s start there.
Sleepy But not Boring
Our bedrooms must have a sleepy ambiance, but it should not be boring. The way you use light bulbs is key to creating that sleepy look. You can put them inside lanterns or you can use lamp shades to dim the glare of an ordinary light bulb. Speaking of shades, you can simply replace the cover in your lamp shade to create a pink glow.
The ambiance must be relaxed because we have come to associate relaxation with being inside a bedroom. But if you want to socialize in one, you should put throw pillows on the floor for people to sit on.
The bedspread. Have you ever heard yourself say “oh, I can’t stand this bedspread any more!” on occasion? You want your slumber party to be inviting, but not boring, and changing the bedspread will improve the look and feel of the bedroom enormously. The right bedspread, combined with the right wall color will do the trick.
Flowers or balloons?
Remember that your daughter or niece isn’t a little girl anymore; but she isn’t fully grown up either. Flowers are great if you can store them in good looking vases. If you want to minimize the dangers associated with pillow fights, you can simply go for balloons.
