An Event Manager’s Checklist: What’s Inside Your Party Purse?
The party purse is a sacred thing… at least to someone who wants to interact with others in a party. It has to be small enough for convenience (who wants to carry a big handbag while eating standing up or talking to people?), but it has to be big enough to accommodate all your necessities (make up, breath mints, some cash etc). The keys to party purse organization are: bringing mini-versions of your most basic party necessities and having enough pockets to organize smaller things.
Now, understand this. The contents of your party purse vary according to your function in the party. What’s the main difference between going to a party as a guest and as a party planner? The items inside your purse.
If you’re a party planner, here hare the things that you must bring with you to a party.
Organizer – bring the smallest tickler notebook you can find and use it to list the things you need to do in the party. Bigger organizers get lost, misplaced or stolen, so you have to choose the smallest one.
Cell phone – Get one that doubles as a video cam and a digicam. You can also get something that connects to the net fast, just in case you need to send a quick email or a quick tweet.
Tummy ache medicine – You think this is going overboard? Think again! Headaches, toothaches and muscle aches are all bearable compared to tummy aches. When you have to go, you have to go, so make sure your antacids etc. are with you when you go around organizing parties. (by the way, if you’re an avid herbal supplement user, you must read this disturbing Colonix review)
Powder and Lipstick – Do your hair and make up at home and simply bring with you the most basic ladies room quick fixes.
A paper/plastic bag - This is the extension of your purse, just in case you really have to carry stuff inside the party. Fold the paper bag or plastic bag neatly and stuff it nicely inside your purse.
Tissue – Pretty handy when people in weddings and retirement parties feel weepy all of a sudden.
Mints – Attending parties means eating and talking, so you won’t have time to quickly brush your teeth. Pop a mint every once in a while to keep your breath fresh. Note: never use gum.
