Why You Should Look Your Best When Planning Parties

Categories: Party Quirks, The Business Side of Things

You might have noticed how party planners are often the best dressed in any party. This isn’t just the planner’s style. You can say it’s deliberate. Of course, you already know that you have to look good anywhere and anytime, but are flashy outfits and those beautiful Dansko shoes really necessary to do your job as a party planner properly?

The answer is YES. Here’s why:

People will be less likely to gripe about your preparations if you look great.

Call it superficial, but a party planner who looks and acts like she’s larger than life will actually get better feedback than someone who looks too casual or too plain. You might say “but people will always be searching for things to gripe about, so it doesn’t matter what you wear”… but my experience told me that people will see things differently if they are absolutely dazzled by your personality and image. I am not a psychologist, but I can tell you that people DO get influenced by appearances, and so you must pay extra attention to your attire and over-all look to be able to impress everyone with your planning skill and party preparation.

Make Sure Everyone You Hire is Well-Dressed

You aren’t the only one preparing the party right? You know by now that you cannot manage everything on your own if the party is for 100 or more people. If you have assistants or waiters, you must make sure that they look their best during the party. The best way to handle this is to buy uniforms that your employees can wear so they won’t look drab and out of place in a bustling corporate party or a classy engagement dinner party. With the possible exception of the driver (who never steps out of the delivery van, you have to make sure the ‘visible’ employees such as the ice carver and the waitresses are dressed appropriately.
