How to Organize Your Home Office
Being a successful party planner means being able to organize your own personal space. Clutter messes you up, mixes your priorities and make you irritable. You don’t want a surly disposition in front of clients, and there’s no way to keep the tension from your voice if you really aren’t feeling ok.
Bust stress by becoming more organized. Here are some tips….
1. Add only home office accessories with visual appeal.
Function and form come hand in hand, but if you really have to choose between them, choose form. Choose colors that lift your mood and enhance your work room’s ambiance.
2. Creating storage space
One of the most important aspects of home office organizing is creating storage space. Turn an ordinary ottoman into something that can accommodate your fashion and party magazines (you know you have a LOT of these), or install storage space under your sofas.
3. Color Code Your Files
Even if you have a copy of everything on your computer, it’s still best to keep hard copies of documents, invoice templates, client information and party brainstorming notes. How can you tell which is which at a glance? Place each file in a colored folder. Assign a color for each “category” and you’re done.
4. Mind the Wires
If you can find ways to tie the wires of your personal computer, printer, and other gadgets, great! Find cable ties that will keep the back of your personal computer neat so that you don’t accidentally trip on cables and wires.
Here’s my final thought on the topic: if you think organizing your home office takes time, think about the time you will be wasting shuffling about in a cluttered work room looking for stuff you need ASAP.
