How to Effectively Manage Your Party Business
If you’ve used the phrase “that’s not my job” in the past, in an office setting perhaps, better delete that phrase from your vocabulary now. In an event, everything is your job. Being the fall guy for things that fail means rising up to the challenge of not letting anything fail. These are just some of the areas you have to cover. But the fact is, you’re only one person and like it or not you only have 24 hours everyday like everyone else.
So how can you be the “go-to” person in your business without spreading yourself too thin? The perfect strategy has something to do with identifying your strengths.
What are your strengths?
Not everyone is similar in capabilities. Some are better leaders than followers, some are lousy as leaders. If your strength is more of listening than talking, or the other way around, you should at least know that so you’d know what your approach to the business would be. Knowing your strength will dictate which area of the business you will have to spend on. Will you hire a marketing or PR manager? An assistant perhaps to keep up with your dictations?
Whatever your strength or weakness, honestly admitting them to yourself will take you one step closer to the ultimate goal… income!
Think of the shortcuts you can take, but make sure these won’t seriously compromise the main aspect of your party business, which is to give good service to your customers. For instance, you want to take a break to recharge your batteries, or you want to spend time working out or you’re moving house and coordinating with long distance movers, you should find someone you trust to do your job before you leave for a break. This also applies when you have the tendency to procrastinate.
The trick is not to dwell on your weaknesses but instead focus on how your strengths can help you succeed.
