As far as I know, fat is bad and everyone should avoid it. When I started planning parties, and pretty much learned which foodstuffs give the most fat, I realized that there’s such thing as “good fat”. But the thing is, the “bad fat” is the one that has to go (so some of use fat burner medication to take care of it).
So, as much as possible, a diet must comprise of a lot of this good type of fats. I’m quite aware of the whole slew of lite and fat free products around. Even products that really didn’t have fat had to slap a FAT FREE label to be “in”.
Well, it can’t be avoided. As soon as people started paying more attention to fat content, anything that doesn’t have a label like that won’t be picked up in a supermarket’s aisle. Unfortunately, and I just learned this recently from a diet consultant, lot of the low fat products have more calories than the full-fat versions. And this means more calories are consumed by availing of the “lite” alternatives.
Now, I am trying a diet wherein I don’t really have to take off ALL the fat because I realized that fat takes a long time to digest (at least longer than carbo), which means I can stay on my feet during a busy day and not go hungry for a long time (at least longer than when I had an all-carbo lunch). Of course, it goes without saying that I’ll be staying away from transfats. Good fats like Omega 3 fatty acids are always welcome in my diet, so maybe I’ll be on the lookout for labels with that.
