Helping Newlyweds Throw a Housewarming Party
When you’re in the business of throwing home parties or helping people throw their own party, you will notice that a significant proportion of your “housewarming party” clientele will be newlyweds. Why is that? Well, these are the people who are probably buying their first home, totally excited about their new life together, or have a significant budget allotted for events like this.
Make Sure the House is Ready for a Party
The first thing you need to consider is how ready the house is. If the roof is barely there, and there’s little or no furniture to sit on, you have a problem. This is the reason why most party planners have extensive knowledge of home decorating too. You should be able to find something to say when you get asked about what a good dining table should be, preferably something that can accommodate a big buffet of party food.
If the house is barely ready, my recommendation is to start with the basics. A table, some chairs, a sofa or couch in the lounge, and a television for playing the wedding ceremony video. Ask the newlyweds about seating, how many guests are coming and which of the guests can be imposed on to bring food.
Make it an Intimate Party for Friends
You must also be ready with several party motifs and food recipes. You will be asked on which dishes the couple can prepare themselves and which ones to order from the party caterer. Then, you will have to show them a few invitation options. As a rule of thumb, your invitations must invite the guests to a cozy party where everyone can sit around and chat about anything.
Now, you must know without me telling you that newlyweds want to scrimp on the party as much as possible. They have a lot of other challenges to deal with like looking for cheap car insurance, more part time jobs and possible baby sitter options for when they conceive their first child. You must pattern your suggestions according to what’s “most practical” for them. Or, you can set up a more practical set of options for them to browse alongside the not-so-practical ones.
