How to Look Successful as a Party Planner?
I’ve been talking to some people in my success support hobby group (basically, just a few friends gathered around with an open laptop in a coffee shop discussing marketing, sales and make up) and at one point, I almost burst out laughing at the image that came to mind when someone said “how would you interpret ‘fake it ’til you make it’”?
Why did I find that funny? Well, two reasons…
1. Someone who might be faking success in party planning (i.e. no clients) would probably look better than someone who is drowning in a sea of income (party catering weekly, daily errands, burning the night oil conceptualizing invitations and banners etc.)
2. A party planner who’s booked until the end of the year will have to wait a few months to take her “success” vacation. I mean, if you’re in-demand, you DO have income, but you hardly have time to spend it because the job entails being there and supervising the operations during the time when you’re supposed to be taking your holiday break like most people (Christmas etc…)
Therefore, if I were to ‘fake success’ as a party planner, I’d probably reject all invitations for coffee and lounging around and say that I’m too busy to socialize. It’s pretty ironic.
