How to Throw a Party Like a Pro

All About Planning a Destination Wedding

Categories: Holiday Getaways, Travel, Weddings

You’ll often hear about destination weddings and out-of-town parties, and think “I can plan that”. How difficult is it to plan a destination wedding? On paper, it’s seems easy enough. You just have to look for good travel agents, and negotiate rates with the hotel venues you’re planning to rent. But there are more things to consider when planning a destination party (especially a destination wedding!).

You May Need to Travel in Advance

Once the down payment has been paid, devote a part of that budget to travelling to the destination. This is to make sure you get your client’s money’s worth. Any room or venue can be photographed beautifully, but actually staying in the hotel will let you know how good the amenities are and how appropriate your hotel of choice is for a honeymoon.

Dealing With Paperwork

You also need to research the legalities of having a wedding or a reception in the locality. Use this opportunity to get the papers needed for signing, and to ask what the requirements are (a Catholic church wedding may require the couple to go for seminars).

Inform Your Clients

Whatever you do, inform your clients that you’re going to the venue so that they can give you specific instructions. They may want you to look at and bring back samples of the food and the favors. This is also to avoid panic on their part just in case they can’t reach your phone during the time you’re away. In some areas, especially near mountains, the signal may be off and you may need a cell phone signal booster.

Take Photos

Whatever you do, do not forget to bring your camera or video recorder. Your clients will need to see the venue like they were the ones who actually went there. Cover the reception area, the church where the ceremony will be, and the suite where the couple will spend their honeymoon.
