How to Throw a Party Like a Pro

Hosting a Kiddie Party Requires Patience

Categories: Kid's Parties, The Business Side of Things

Discipline is a hard issue for many parents. What do you do when a child throws a tantrum? The answer may escape us but when the child is a physically challenged loved one, we are often even more at a loss for what If you have a background in child psychology, kindergarten teaching or caregiving for kids, you might want to consider being a kiddie party host. Not every person can do this job, and as most of the emcees I’ve worked with tell me… you have to be a child care specialist first and a party host second if you want to be a regular at kiddie parties.

It is not uncommon for children to have tantrums when they’re in a social setting like a party. In fact, we have heard so much about the “terrible twos and threes” that we expect at least a few tantrum episodes per party. Tantrums are a discipline issue that parents face, and when you’re hosting a party for kids of different temperaments, you must know some of the basics…

First of all, children have issues of their own. For a child, it could be an unwillingness to share their toys with others, hunger, tiredness, or testing the boundaries of their behavior. The test for kiddie party hosts is whether they can contain their frustration long enough to solve the tantrum before giving up.

The most common way to deal with children’s tantrums during a party is the “timeout area”. In other words, the kids who start showing signs of being ornery can be taken out of the group and brought to the timeout area where it’s relatively more peaceful.

You can have party crafts and toys there or refreshments. Try to provide what the child needs. Carrying snacks in your purse or pocket can stop hypoglycemia in its tracks. A tired child will cry and fight with you because he or she may be lacking sugar or any other energy source. The good thing about being a kiddie party host is that you don’t have to think about best weight loss supplements for a while… you’ll get thin just running after the energetic kids in the party.
