How to Throw a Party Like a Pro

Extension of Your Home Office: Your Den

Categories: Home Decorating, The Business Side of Things

If your home office is where you create magic as a party planner, the den is where you make that magic count. It’s where you entertain your guests and prospects. It’s where you explain your ideas and wow them with your creativity. It’s the place where they decide on the spot that they absolutely NEED someone like you to plan their party.

With these in mind, let’s figure out how to decorate your den, which is the extension of your home office and your personality. Using contrasting colors like black and white provides a clean and elegant atmosphere. This combination can be added to any room in a home making it a sophisticated space.

If you’re entertaining to impress, don’t install office furniture, instead go for couches and ottomans. Comfortable seating is absolutely necessary if you want to them to sign a contract or look at your portfolio.

Black and white are often used in contemporary home decorating, but other combinations can be used, like blue and white, red and black. It may be hard to visualize but there are many ideas for decorating a home using only basic colors.

The floor is a great place to start. Black and white vinyl tiles laid alternately makes a beautiful checkerboard pattern and looks clean and elegant. Black marble used on the floor, accented by wide white baseboards, another beautiful idea. White ceramic tiles with a dark border or simply paint the floor and use stencils of the opposite color for decoration.
