Frugal Wedding Issues: Bridesmaid Gowns and Accessories
Bridesmaid dresses don’t have to eat up a lot of your wedding budget. If you’re planning on getting married but you’re not sure if you can afford everything from bridesmaid clothes, accessories, groomsmen tux rentals, to personal make up artists, floral arrangements and what not… it’s time to ask your friends a favor.
Why not let the bridesmaids take care of their accessories (and even their gowns?). This has been done before. Just give your bridesmaid a scrap of fabric that represents your main motif and let them choose their own gowns for the occasion. The only banned color would be “very white” because the bride is the only one who can wear that color on the day of the wedding.
Inform your friends at least three months in advance so that they can prepare for the expense of buying or renting their own gowns. C’mon, for less than the price of the best acne treatment, they can find accessories and clothes to wear on your special day, right?
But the thing is, you can only ask for so much. You must provide a common accessory for your bridesmaids so that there is a sense of uniformity during your wedding aisle procession. Even if they wear gowns that differ in cut, style and shade, at least the common accessory will make the bridesmaid line look uniform.
Some wedding accessories for bridesmaids include corsages, hats, flower tiaras, faux diamond tiaras, and other hair accessories.
