How to Throw a Party Like a Pro

Camping Basics For Picnics

If you are planning to ‘rough it’ while camping, it is important to know what tools you’ll need as well as a few dos and don’ts. This sort of picnic is not for the faint of heart. Knowing you have very few supplies and very little time to find food, water, and shelter means that you have to know what you are doing. Here are a few tips to help get you started if ‘living off the land’ is something you want to try.

Multi-Tasking Tools

A multi-tool is a great way to conserve space without giving up what you actually need. For instance, a simple Gerber knife has pliers and a knife. Another handy little tool is the Gerber Paxe. This is a full-sized hatchet that is mounted on a small handle. This makes cutting through the woods and building a fire possible when you are unable to carry a full-sized hatchet or machete.

Proper Food Storage

For preparing a meal, you might like to try a set of cookware that is stored within itself, wrapped all tidy in its own cleaning pot. This not only makes it portable, but it also keeps it together in one package. There are a ton of different multi-tools to choose from that you’ll want to explore when room and weight is at a premium.

Be Resourceful

Unless you’re in a nature reserve with some wood picnic tables strewn around a common camping area, you’re going to have to make do with a tree stump or the top of your cooler if you don’t feel like eating standing up or if you don’t feel comfortably laying your food on the ground.
