Preparing Food for a Road Trip
Going out of town could mean eating out of cans and stopping at gas stations to eat or use the bathroom. You need not feel like roughing it out is torture, if you prepare in advance.
First, of course you need to prepare your car. You can’t afford to stall in the middle of the highway where it’s 40 degrees outside. Prepare early and find out what companies with auto body estimating software can tell you about your car’s capacity to be driven long distance.
Now that you’re ready and your car is all good, you can start thinking about the things you will bring along.
Road trip veterans know a thing or two about enjoying the day with a variety of foods, as well as how to pack the right foods for a whole day of outdoor fun driving to your destination. Food that won’t spoil easily will be useful, because you can’t afford to get sick on the road because of food that has gone bad.
Marinated chicken drumsticks and wings, turkey legs, and even ribs are great. If you have somewhere to park your trailer, you can bring along your portable grill and make kabobs. Chili is another classic road trip dish that actually does double duty. A nice big bowl of chili is a filling dish all on its own. But, if you want to eat a hot dog from a street stall, why not turn it into a chili dog? With a sturdy bun, grilled hot dog, a generous dollop of chili, and a sprinkling of diced sweet onion, you’ve got a satisfying meal.
Tailgate Party During Ball Season
When you think of ball games, several things come to mind – warm weather, fans in their fashionable Bolle Goggles, the spirit of competition, and of course, stadium food. Ballparks are some of the places you can enjoy hot dogs, hamburgers, nachos, fries, peanuts, popcorn, cotton candy, and ice cream treats. Self cater on your next tailgate and serve all the tasty food we all know and love.
Hot Dogs, Burgers and Sausages
Hot dogs are as classic as a nice juicy hamburger or hot Italian sausage with all the works. No matter where you tailgate, in your backyard or at a neighborhood park, you’ll probably need to bring along a portable grill. This will allow you to cook hot dogs, sausages, and burgers perfectly. Bring all the trimmings like mustard, ketchup, relish, diced onion, and pickles in small convenient containers. Some onions and peppers add color to your hotdogs or burgers.
Tortillas
You can also serve nachos along with some chili. if you want to keep things easy, get classic ballpark snack by adding nacho cheese sauce. You’ll find it in cans in your grocery store. Bring a grill-safe dish to heat the sauce and pour over tortilla chips in individual paper bowls. Top with jalapeno peppers if desired and serve. Peanuts are great for people who are waiting impatiently for the ball game results. Although popcorn are classics, peanuts can easily be brought along.
Want to Sneak In Some Vacation Time?
You know how it is when the end of the year arrives. You feel like you’ve exhausted yourself all year trying to earn a living, and you deserve a break. But you’re not sure whether you want to plan ahead or you can simply sneak in some vacation time at the last minute.
Even if you haven’t made plans, talk to your employer about giving you a week vacation during the Christmas season. Of course, this depends on how long you have been at your job. Christmas vacation is usually spent with family, though some people like to skip the family on occasion and take a break from everything and everyone for some time to de-stress. No matter what you plan to do for your Christmas vacation, make sure you plan early so you can save some money, and to make sure you get a flight.
If you want to go upstate or out of the country to see your relatives, book early. You may have to make do with more expensive tickets if you book at the last minute. If you’re just crossing the border, make sure your car is up to the task of taking you where you want to go. Road trips are common during vacaiton time. Make sure you at least have a well-oiled engine, and you’ve installed personal gps vehicle tracking if you need it.
If you are thinking of getting away for some skiing or snowboarding for your Christmas vacation, remember that many others have the same idea. If you don’t act early, you may not be able to get a reservation at your favorite resort. Just remember to make sure your reservations are confirmed, and arrive and leave on odd days of the week if you can. This might ensure you get a room when they may not otherwise have anything available.
Costumes for You and Your Pet
Sometime during the nineties, it became apparent that many celebrities are getting pets not just because they love animals but because they make excellent fashion accessories. Similar to having a doll in tow, you can dress up your dog and bring him along anywhere you go, a la Paris Hilton.
Cool and cute accessories for dogs and other pets make your furry friend the envy of the people attending a costume party. Of course your dog can go around with you without anything on, but having a flashy wardrobe with matching accessories can make your dog more proud to stand beside you. This is particularly true if you go to the store after your shift still in your nurses uniform, and your dog is wearing a matching accessory like a nurse cap.
During the summer, you can make do with a small cap or a cooling body wrap. Winters are fun because you can buy woolen clothes for your dog and yourself. Fleece and faux fur-lined coats, along with nylon ‘bubble’ parkas and vests can be bought to keep him warmly in style. If you’re dog’s a she, or an open-minded he, take a look at the dog dresses in an array of styles to have that well-dressed dog look.
The true celebrity dog must have a selection of jewelry and other essential accessories for dogs. You’ll find dog ties, hats and scarves, suitable for office wear. As for jewelry, your dog will impress her friends with a basic string of pearls, crystal beads, pendants and tiaras, fit for a Princess.
