How to Throw a Party Like a Pro

A Subdued But Fabulous Party for a Sick Person

Categories: Party Quirks

Throwing a party for someone who’s sick can be awkward if not handled well. After all, it is always awkward to be in a celebratory mood when someone is obviously suffering. However, there is nothing that can add to a sick person’s depression more than the thought that a birthday or an anniversary celebration is not happening just because he’s hooked into a patient monitor or in the hospital.

A party can bring cheer to anyone, but the joy of having a party is doubled if the celebrant is sick. The idea behind a party is to have family members and friends take a break from their daily routine especially for one person. That is the true essence of the party.

If the party is in a hospital or a care home, then a subdued but fabulous party is in order. You can serve the guests using packed lunches just to minimize the clutter and keep cleaning up simple. Styrofoam is usually the package material used, but more families are now going for paper plates and bento boxes. Someone can distribute glasses for the toast after which these packed lunches or bentos are distributed among the guests.

Sometimes during a party kids can become boisterous because of sheer boredome. Therefore, it is necessary for the children to do an activity that requires them to be seated and relatively quiet. Some simple ideas for the children to do while the snacks are being prepared, for example, crossword puzzles.

How to Be Fashionable Without Being Gaudy

Being in the party planning business means you will attend parties all the time. Amidst the glitz and glamour of every party, there is a chance of being a wallflower if you’re not fabulous enough. Or, you can be too fabulous and end up being outlandish.

A party planner must dress with success in mind. This means showing your good taste not only in the kind of party you can come up with, but also in the clothes you wear. Wear comfortable shoes instead of heels that you can barely walk with. But the shoes that you choose should also be noticeably branded for you to show your fashion sense.

Some tips on how to dress for a party if you’re a party planner is to keep things simple. You can wear something with a neutral hue and depend on your michael kors watch to make the splash you want. If you’re among fashionistas, accessories matter, especially your bags, shoes and jewelry.

Provisions for Kids, Babies and Nannies in a Picnic Party

Categories: Kid's Parties

A picnic party can be chaos if no proper organization is present. Besides the buffet table and the food, you also have to think about the activities of your guests, especially those who are too excited to sit still and eat properly, namely the kids. Of course, their nannies or the people who have to run around to keep up with these children have to be considered too.

Stroller Parking

A disorganized picnic will have kids, strollers and nannies running around in all directions. Have a space for the strollers so that everyone’s free to move around without worrying about their feet being run over by these strollers. It can be fun to see several UPPAbaby Cruz strollers all lined up neatly in the stroller parking spot.

Playpen

Picnics and cookouts are a haven for kids who want to play in the sun. Younger kids who can’t join in the freesbie competitions yet will require a playpen where they can expend lots of energy. Kids are active people and being corralled in a playpen during a picnic will get them eagerly waiting for the next picnic party. Your backyard party is more fun with the excited shrieks of young kids enjoying the slides and inflatables in the playpen. Make sure the playpen also has adult seating for the nannies.

Grab-and-Go Sandwiches

For many people, a sandwich is a portable snack encased in two pieces of bread. These sandwiches is especially useful for nannies who have to man the playpen and watch over the kids. Use a few standard varieties – white, wheat, or rye.

Baby Shower Party Idea: Swap Baby Clothes and Toys

Categories: Baby Shower Basics

Many baby showers are organized so that the couple having their baby can collect hand-me-downs from friends who have kids themselves. As parents know well, kids grow up fast and soon the baby stuff like baby onesies they’ve accumulated over the years would take up every inch of living space. The solution? Give away these baby items.

But some baby stuff are meant for older babies, and may not be of use to the newborn in the meantime. The solution is to swap clothes and toys with other moms and dads who will attend the baby shower.

Make sure you put this detail in the invitation so that the guests can prepare in advance.

What to Serve?

A baby shower may be the only time fried appetizers are not appropriate. Parents don’t want oil on their hands because they will be handling babies, baby clothes and baby toys. If a morsel of food gets stuck in a stuffed animal’s fur, the rodents would pounce on the item while it’s in storage.

Go for old-fashioned comfort food you can eat with a utensil like baked beans, German potato salad and glazed carrots. These items are a breeze to prepare in the slow cooker. Scalloped potatoes are easy on the stomach, and go well with any meat dish in your menu.
